Daughter to a Danish mother and English father, Jackie was educated in both rural England and Belgium. Early recognition and a commendation from the Royal Academy of Arts at the age of nine sowed the seed for Jackie’s pursuit of artistic expression. While it remained primarily a hobby against the context of family life and raising two sons, the last six years have provided Jackie the opportunity to bring this background passion to the fore.
Living in the rural English Sussex countryside, and caring for a menagerie of animals, inspiration for her early and continued work was not far away.
These influences can be seen present throughput her body of work.
Both oil and acrylic provide the medium used to craft scenes and landscapes as the stage for wild birds and animals. Often abstract in nature, these characterful creatures and mood evoking vistas hold the eye for a longer look, at times asking a subtle question.
While gardens, flora and fauna are favourite subjects, seascapes and coastal scenes are equally present. A second home in Scotland provides Jackie with a rugged balance to the Sussex countryside. Here the emotive colours and quality of light further inform much of her work.
