PS: Bass Guitarist Print
3 in stock
Unframed: Limited Edition Fine Art Giclee Print of my pen and ink stipple drawing PS: Bass Guitarist, Visual Artist.
The original drawing is made up entirely, 100%, of pen ink dots. The drawing took a total of 88 hours to complete. Based on 4 dots per second the original drawing is made up of approximately 1.3 million ink dots.
The drawing is based upon the album cover artwork of London Calling by The Clash. I removed some elements from the original photograph as I wanted to capture the guitar of Paul Simonon in a totally black background, which for me makes for a more aesthetically pleasing image. The drawing’s title: PS (Paul Simonon): was the Bass Guitarist with The Clash and lives his life now as a Visual Artist.
Stipple drawing is an incredibly slow process that allows for great detail to be achieved and the finished work has a near 3D quality. This 3D quality is replicated in the print edition.
I time each drawing session to be able to know how long each drawing takes to complete. This was an often asked question, the answer to which I was always previously uncertain, though I knew it was a ‘long’ time.
