PS: Bass Guitarist
1 in stock
Full title: ‘PS: Bass Guitarist, Visual Artist’.
Professionally framed. This pen and ink ‘stipple’ drawing is made up entirely, 100%, of pen ink dots. The drawing took a total of 88 hours to complete. Based on 4 dots per second this drawing is made up of approximately 1.3 million ink dots.
The drawing is based upon the album cover artwork of London Calling by The Clash. I removed some elements from the original photograph as I wanted to capture the guitar of Paul Simonon in a totally black background, which for me makes for a more aesthetically pleasing image. The drawing’s title: PS (Paul Simonon): was the Bass Guitarist with The Clash and lives his life now as a Visual Artist.
Drawing Size: 25x29cm – Framed Size: 54x58cm – Frame Mount Border width: 10cm wide on all edges.
Glazing: Clarity+ Premium Synthetic Glass. Professionally framed: 52mm wide wood with a black stain finish. The frame mount is black.
Stipple drawing is an incredibly slow process that allows for great detail to be achieved and the finished work has a near 3D quality. I time each drawing session to be able to know how long each drawing takes to complete. This was an often asked question, the answer to which I was always previously uncertain, though I knew it was a ‘long’ time.
I use Sakura Pigma Micron drawing pens in all of my pen and ink drawings. The pens have become the defining standard for reliable, permanent, archival quality ink. The archival quality ink is acid-free, chemically stable, waterproof, and fade resistant.
