The Red Baron
1 in stock
This is my portrait tribute to WW1 ace Manfred von Richthofen, more famously known as the Red Baron due to the colour of his tri-wing aircraft.
Possibly one of the most famous pilot aces of all time, von Richthofen initially became a cavalryman but transferred to the German Air Service in 1915. He quickly distinguished himself as a competent fighter pilot and, in 1917, became leader of Jasta 11 and afterwards Jagdgeschwarder 1 – better known as “The Flying Circus”.
He was killed in combat on 21st April 1918 aged just 26.
This portrait is the 2nd military themed one I have drawn and, in time, I shall add to the number. The original here is complete with a replica of the “Blue Max” awarded to von Richthofen in 1917 and is framed behind AR70 low reflective art glass for a superior clear look. I can personally deliver artwork at a much cheaper cost than couriers (UK mainland only) should you want it delivered with care!
